Oxford Diaries : A Dreamer’s Tale from the City of Spires......

Image
Oxford is Magical . Every street tells you a story. Every corner holds centuries of history. It's a dream to be here, among the most amazing people of the world, surrounded by the fascinating architecture of this city. But how did all this happen? How did I end up here? Am I living my life in a reverse gear? Feeling a little insomniac today, let me tell u a kutty story.. :-D So who inspired me to come to Oxford? It was the Thomas Shelby n his Birmingham gang! It's the Allen Walker n Sabrina Carpenter's "I'm on my way !!!"...N yes the stunning photos of my unknown Facebook friend who studied in Cambridge !  "So take aim and fire away, I've never been so wide awake, No, nobody but me can keep me safe And I'm on my way...." Inspiration is everywhere... It solely depends on the lens you put on!!  As I reach midpoint of my course, I am amazed by how far I have come from the day when this all was just a dream! I applied only to Oxford and Cambridge...

Everything everywhere All at once... Oh yeah... Choices !

Image
So it's been long since I wrote something here. Few days back, I was watching this amazing Oscar movie " Everything Everywhere All at Once " on my recent flight and I couldn't resist writing this piece! The movie is about this middle-aged women living a mediocre life due to the choices she makes in life. The movie traverses through her choices in life and the alternate lives she could have lived had she made right decisions at the right times. Wow.... Let's get down to this !!! Life gives you choices... Almost all the time... And your current state of being is the result of the choices you made in the past.. Your past defines the present! Oh wait... Is that so? Well what about me? Did I make the right choices in my life? Is this the life I wanted to live? Or has I gone back in my life to see the alternate choices and probably..mmm... Probably....grabbed one now and living it? Do I regret my choices of past or do I celebrate them? Am I on top of the world right n...

Life of An IFS Probationer... A Traveller Within

Its been long since i wrote something. Let me get back to something which i love doing...Expressing Myself  and this time its about my IFS Training @ IGNFA! IFS training encompasses a very exhaustive and elaborate 16.5 month long of Travel and Touring. When u visit more than 20+ states , 50+ Cities, Innumerable Places of Heritage, Forests, Forts, National Parks,Temples,Monasteries,Architectural Sites, Natural Wonders etc etc., all in a span of just One-Year Odd, it demands a book or two to be written to narrate the Stories of Touring, Travel and Fun. However, for the lack of space n time, i am writing this very brief blog post to Cover the Majority of Places and Appreciate the Uniqueness that this Diverse Nation has in Store at every place we set our foot on. This is more of a Tour Guide for Must Visit Places in India for a traveller within You. Unlike the trainings of some other Civil Services which happen in Sandwich pattern, IFS training happens for a 16.5 month period...

IFS Job Profile : A bird’s eye view for an aspirant

Many Aspirants asked me to write a post on "What" is the exact Job Profile of an IFS officer, the Scope of his Work, the Oppurtunities etc., My Seniors have put in some effort in writing a blog post on the same topic. So i take the liberty of Copy-Pasting the same in the interest of the future aspirants, with due acknowledgment to 2014 batch of IFS. ********************************************************************************* Introduction Indian Forest Service  (IFS) is amongst the most prestigious services of our country and is one of the three All India Services, the other two being Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service. It was constituted in the year 1966 under the All India Services Act, 1951 by the Government of India for scientific management of its forests. Prior to that, the British had constituted  Imperial Forest Service  in 1867 which functioned under the Federal Government until ‘Forestry’ was transferred to the “Provincial List”...

At the Finishing Line of the Foundation Course(FC)....

Image
Its been long since i blogged..Life has moved miles ahead or may be i am still struck in the waves of loneliness when the world around me moved ahead.. 15 weeks of foundation course has entered into its penultimate week and finally i got some time to do something which doesn't carry weightage in the Director's Assessment here @ academy i.e., blogging.. :D FC is exciting, enthralling, busy busy, hectic n very interesting indeed ! If i have to blog, each day of FC would become 4 5 blog entries..So, let me just briefly Look back at my past 3months here and encapsulate it in this small post. I remember the first day when i first entered into this academy, the Great Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration, Mussorie. It was a feeling of satisfaction, pride, happiness and above all a sense of Responsibility when i was walking into the gate. Years of Hardwork earned an entry ticket into this prestigious Institute. I was totally blank about what was gonna come in t...

What does "Happiness" Mean to me......

Probably the best time to write about happiness is when you are sad. I have been thinking about writing my thoughts over Happiness from the time i came across this Surprize question of "What does happiness means to you" in Civil Services Ethics paper of 2014. After Going Up n Down swings of happiness n sadness in the past few years, i feel myself better placed to pour out my thoughts on this. Many philosophers have written many ideas about how to be happy in one's life. I am no philosopher, hence gonna put it in very naive layman's language.  Happiness can be defined as Material, Physical, Mental, Healthy, Pshycological well being of a human being. But even if we have all these things, still we can be unhappy. To me Happiness is personal. Happiness is an Individual's right. Everyone of us has the right to be Happy. Every human being born is destined to die one day n between this Birth n Death, there lies a phase where we keep going through plethora of e...
